Even before his term commenced, the district was under threat by the incoming KI president to dissolve its charter since it fell below the charter strength, 1,000 members of good standing. With the full cooperation of the Lt. Governors and the general membership, Gov. Mike was successful in bringing back to charter strength the membership of the district in time for the Asia-Pacific Conference in Davao City. The district was able to add 4 new clubs to its roster.
The District By-laws was completed, ratified by the delegates in a District Convention, and approved by KI during his term.
One of the highlights of the Gov. Mike's term was the successful hosting of the Asia-Pacific Conference in Davao City.
Discon 25 was hosted in Cebu City on August 29 to September 1, 2000, with Past Governor Dodong Cabahug as chairman.

The KI president in his Inaugural Address publicly recognized the "Balay Danapanan" as notable project of the District. The twinning program between the Philippine South District and the Republic of China District was formalized.
No governor would like to finish his term with a decline in mem-bership. However, Gov. Mel decided once and for all to bite the bullet and cleansed the district of all "non-existing clubs". This caused a decline of the number of divisions from from 12 to 10.
The 24th Convention was held in Davao City.

KY 1975 - 1976 was the maiden administrative year of the Philip-pine South District under the leadership of its first District Governor Emilio "Emil" Piansay. Prior to this year, the clubs in the Visayas and Mindanao were part of the Philippne Luzon District.In its endeavor to expand Kiwanis influence, 17 new clubs were created, which gave the distinction of having the biggest percentage of growth at that time for all districts of Kiwanis. The District Bulletin was also awarded first place in Blue Section category and the 500th Club International Award when Marbel 500 was organized.
The 1st District Convention was held on August 26-28, 1976 in Bacolod City, with Danilo Napalinga as Chairman.
